I had a chicken

I had a chicken (bis)
No eggs would she lay (bis)
I had a chicken (bis)
No eggs would she lay (bis)

CHORUS

And I said, Honey
this isn’t funny
We’re losing money
No eggs would she lay (bis)

One day a rooster (bis)
Crept into our yard (bis)
And caught that chicken (bis)
Right off her guard (bis)
She’s laying eggs now
Just like she used to
Ever since that rooster
Crept into our yard
She’s laying eggs now
Just like she used to
Ever since that rooster
Crept into our yard (bis)

CHORUS

One day a dog (bis)
Crept into our yard, woof (bis)
And caught that chicken (bis)
Right off her guard (bis)
She’s laying pooched eggs
Just like she used to
Ever since that dog
Crept into our yard
She’s laying pooched eggs
Just like she used to
Ever since that dog
Crept into our yard (bis)

CHORUS

One day a gum tree (bis)
Grew into our yard (bis)
And caught that chicken (bis)
Right off her guard (bis)
She’s laying chicklets
Just like she used to
Ever since that gum tree
Crept into our yard
She’s laying chicklets
Just like she used to
Ever since that gum tree
Crept into our yard (bis)

CHORUS

One day a comedian (bis)
Crept into our yard (bis)
And caught the chicken (bis)
Right off her guard (bis)
She’s telling yolks now
Just like she used to
Ever since that comedian
Crept into our yard
She’s telling yolks now
Just like she used to
Ever since that comedian
Crept into our yard (bis)

CHORUS

À propos de l’interprète de cette chanson

Alyssia Morin

Alyssia has been performing and learning music since the early age of 4. Since then, she has learned how to play many instruments such as guitar, piano, ukulele, saxophone, flute, and singing. She is now following her passion for music by studying Jazz Voice in the Professional Music & Song Techniques program at Vanier College. She was also a camp counselor and activity leader at Camp Amy Molson for 4 years, where she often got to showcase her talent during the daily evening program. She is very happy and honored to have had the opportunity to record these classic camp songs.

Sean Day

Sean Day spent almost 30 years in the camp world, doing almost every job you can think of from counsellor to naturalist to security, from outdoor education to to camp coordinator to regional director of camps. Music is also his passion; he is a chansonnier, composer and camp fire enthusiast. Camp afforded him an audience who had no choice but to listen to him sing, something in which he took great pleasure. Somewhere along the way he squeezed in a music degree. He is delighted to have participated in recording some camp campfire classics for posterity.
